Carolyn Hurtado, director of the Albuquerque Academy Chamber Players, started working at Albuqerque Academy in 2020. She has taught orchestra at four other middle and high schools throughout her tenure as a classroom teacher. She is excited to get back to her Alma Mater and to teach the orchestras that were the highlight of her own middle and high school. She started teaching as a private violin and cello teacher in 2014. She has worked as a violinist with several local orchestras, including the New Mexico Philharmonic, as well as several quartets.

Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of New Mexico. She has worked as a clinician and judge for orchestras throughout Albuquerque and Santa Fe. She enjoys conducting and performing music from many different musical periods and genres. Her favorite era to teach and conduct is modern. She enjoys repairing and making string instruments. She is married to her husband, Luke, and enjoys reading, fiber arts, and board games in her spare time.
