Evan Garrett Young Teaching Artist Collective

Vision

The Evan Garrett Young Teaching Artist Collective—an outreach program at the Levanta Institute at Albuquerque Academy—envisions a vibrant community of young artists in grades 9-12 who share their creativity with their community as performers, presenters, and educators. Through this program, high school artists develop the skills to engage diverse audiences—children, peers, and community members of all ages and backgrounds—inviting them into the beauty of their art forms. Members of the collective not only learn to teach and connect through art, but also embark on deep, personal explorations of their own artistic practice, discovering new dimensions of their craft and voice. By uniting performance, reflection, and community engagement, the young artist collective honors the memory of Evan Garrett ’08 and nurtures a generation of artist-citizens who bring imagination, empathy, and meaningful artistic experiences to the communities they serve.

"Inspiring young artists to deepen their craft, share their art, and connect with their peers and community through performance, teaching, and creative engagement."
